{RL~53} Tonight starting at 7PM ET/4PM PT on TheRewind’s Retro Lounge: A Musical Testimony to EDDIE VAN HALEN R.I.P.

TONIGHT starting at 7:00pm ET/4:00pm PT on  a Special Edition of TheRewind’s Retro Lounge we will dedicate the entire show to the music of the late Eddie Van Halen who sadly passed away on Tuesday October 6th via complications from throat cancer at the age of 65.

Although many of us knew Eddie was battling cancer for close to 10 years now,his passing came as a complete shock to the rock music world. Eddie co-founded the all time great band Van Halen in 1972 with his older brother Alex (drums/backing keyboards). In 1977 they signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Records and released their debut self titled album in 1978 along with bandmates Michael Anthony (bass guitar/backing vocals)and their frontman David Lee Roth (lead singer/acoustic guitars) and the rest is rock music history. Eddie is probably recognized as one of rock music’s GREATEST guitarist! Eddie was also a very underrated piano/keyboard player. This wasn’t well known until Eddie’s playing was spotlighted on their #1 classic song,”Jump” released in 1984.

Eddie also collaborated with other artists on projects, most notably his famous guitar solo on Michael Jackson’s classic single “Beat It” from his all time great Thriller album.

Eddie’s hard work and dedication with the band finally paid off because in 2007 Van Halen was inducted in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With a body of work including five #1 albums, 16 Top 40 singles including 3 Top Tens and a #1 single (“Jump”).

Van Halen is 20th on the RIAA list of best selling artists from the United States as they have sold over 56 million albums to date including two studio albums that went Diamond (selling over 10 million albums), their 1978 self titled debut Van Halen album (a rare feat for a debut album) and 1984, their great 1984 album which includes their most popular song, the #1 classic “Jump”!

Please join us tonight as we’ll spotlight Van Halen’s music from their beginnings in 1978 to their last studio album in 2012.

Tonight we’re rockin’ in honor of a guitar legend…..R.I.P. EDDIE!
