The creator/producer and host of The Rewind, Les “LRob” Robinson got his love for 70’s music at age 8 when the diverse sounds of music in his native Philadelphia, Pa. was as bright and vibrant as ever. “I grew up during a very unique time period, top 40 AM radio was at it’s apex”, LRob says,” also FM stereo stations were starting to gain traction, which sounded a LOT better than AM radio, that combined with the fantastic ‘Sounds Of Philly’ from Gamble & Huff’s Philly International Records recording artist like The O’Jays, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes and vocal groups The Stylistics, The Delphonics, The Intruders and local sensations such as Patti LaBelle and of course my favorite music artist of all the Daryl Hall and John Oates” With Philly radio stations such as WFIL 56 AM, WDAS-FM, WIFI92, WIOQ102, WIZZARD100, WCAU-FM98, LRob started to immerse himself in the different genres of music that was around during the 70’s and early 1980’s.

As he went in the U.S Army and was stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma, he witnessed the birth of MTV/Music Television and it’s rise to prominence. As LRob says, “I was stationed in the middle of nowhere, so there was nothing to do but watch MTV all day and watch all these new artist and looking at music for the first time. I was fascinated with all of the British artists and their distinct sounds, it became known as ‘The New British Invasion’. I also got to see some of my favorite artist make history on the new music channel like my Philly Homeboys, Hall&Oates”!
